Veneers Q & A

Inspiring Smiles

What types of veneers are best for me?

Many different types of veneers can help you completely transform your smile. A few of the kinds of veneers that Dr. Barden specializes in are:

Lumineers

This type of veneer is a permanent smile solution that doesn’t require shaving down natural teeth. Lumineers are contact lens-thin porcelain veneers placed over your natural teeth. Dr. Barden shapes the Lumineers to fit your desired shape, color, and size, creating a new, natural-looking smile.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are one of the most common forms of veneers. They are thin, sturdy tooth-shaped pieces of porcelain. Dr. Barden shapes and colors the porcelain to blend seamlessly into your current smile, but with an improved look. Your teeth are scraped and reshaped before the veneers are placed.

Composite Veneers

Dr. Barden crafts these veneers with a tooth-colored composite to your desired shape and size and then places them on the teeth. In most cases, composite veneers are used to fix chips, damage, or crowns in the mouth, but they can also be used to change the shape and color of teeth.

DURAthin® Veneers

This is a new technology in cosmetic dentistry that uses ultra-thin veneers that are designed to adhere directly to the front of small or narrow teeth. This no-prep veneer system allows you to keep the full integrity of your natural teeth.

How long do veneers last?

With proper upkeep and care, veneers can last anywhere from 10-15 years. While veneers are not susceptible to the same decay as natural teeth, they still need to be brushed and maintained on a daily basis. Dr. Barden may recommend that you stay away from certain foods and beverages, such as coffee and red wine, plus cigarettes, as they might stain your veneers.

Are veneers permanent?

Yes, most veneers are permanent. Thankfully, veneers can always be reshaped or replaced to keep your smile healthy and beautiful for years on end. Veneers can become discolored over time, but Dr. Barden can place new pearly white veneers if needed.
