Bonding

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a non-invasive procedure done at our office Inspiring Smiles located in Cumming GA, which can improve the look of your teeth.

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is used for cosmetic purposes. It can correct a discolored or chipped tooth, close a gap between teeth, and make them appear longer, or even change the shape of a tooth. In these cases, composite bonding is a substitute to metal fillings, which are very noticeable especially if placed on teeth that show when you smile. Composite bonding can also protect a portion of the tooth's root that's been uncovered when gums recede.

What to Expect During Your Visit?

Composite bonding is a very simple procedure that can be completed in one or two visits. For minor corrections, the dentist will color match the resin to your teeth in our Inspiring Smiles office. For a more advanced correction, impressions of your teeth are forwarded to our dental lab, and the actual bonding takes place on your second visit. The treatment itself begins with the removal of some surface enamel from the tooth being restored. This procedure allows the dentist to shape the composite resin to your tooth. Then it is followed by the application of the bonding agent. Our dentist will then add the composite resin, cure it with a special light and finish the treatment by polishing your teeth. If the restoration is being done in-house, the process involves a high level of ability and experience to mold and shape the resin to perfectly match your teeth. At Inspiring Smiles, our doctor is qualified and skilled in this particular area.

What Aftercare Is Needed?

With routine care, today's composite material is sturdy enough to last without regular attention; which means you won't have to seek out the office for individual visits and upkeep. Nevertheless, at Inspiring Smiles, we make sure our patients understand the importance of exercising proper daily oral care and maintaining their regular dental checkups.
